Design Topic 6: Designers, this time you will design something with no constraints that is completely YOU. Then you must create a design that is the complete opposite. This is about design astheic and desiging something that do probably wouldn't do otherwise. The opposite design should be represent a opposite identity of your design asthetic. This should be high-fashion and ready for the runway.
This challenge to me was really tough. I was only able to finalize a concept for my design the day before. And that day was very stressful, and I almost quit for various circumstances. I DIDN'T EVEN HAVE A TEASER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But I think I did pretty good with what I have.
My designs are two completely different outfits that are polar to eachother. As asked, we were to design an outfit that represents the deisgner's own aesthetic, and create another that contrasts that view. As defined, aesthetic simply means what is beautiful and artistic. I decided to design an outfit that would represent myself that is beautiful, very pleasing, very modern and sophisticated. That is my own aesthetic. I created a garment with a very chic feeling and layering that flatters. I chose colors that give a sense of beauty. Of course, I wouldn't miss the boots! HAHAHA...you might be getting tired of it...
The opposite design is basically the opposite of my aesthetic. So not modern, definitely not sophisticated, and unflattering. This design is not me, for I would not want to create such outfit. I don't mean to say it's not great, it's just not fashionable. With the platform shoes, long skirt, cashmere sweater and dull colors, this design represents the opposite of my aesthetic.
Materials: Left:
Orange patterned silk Chiffon (patterned skirt)
Brown suede (boots)
Brown leather (boots)
Red leather (vest)
Green Cashmere (long-sleeve turtle neck)
Judges' Comments: "Alright. First off even though the one he didn't color was the one that wasn't very him HE NEEDED TO COLOR IT! It's part of making a professional looking and cohesive illustration! *heh hem* Other than that I think he did a FANTASTIC job! We just loved the design that represents him! It's so fun and chic!...gosh and that vest is to die for! The colors flowed together, but I wasn't too particular about the chiffon for the skirt...maybe a satin? But ultimately it was his design. The design that wasn't him was boring and frumpy. Which makes since because ceazar's style is anything but that. It was dasturdus, horrendous, and B-O-R-I-N-G. Great job ceazar!!"
